[UX] Make field settings visually clearer, no indication that you’re a layer deeper.

When a user is in the field settings area it is confusing because the edit tab and overall appearance are nearly identical to the content type settings.

Have you looked at this module?  https://backdropcms.org/project/grid_field_formatter Maybe it would work with image styles to get you close to what you want. P.S.  The newest...
