Supposedly the D7 calendar module is in contrib modules.

I do not see it. What am I overlooking?

This is a very much needed module for me (have several sites depending on it).

Fullcalendar seems fine (enough), but without the/a date-repeat function/module/feature it will be much work. We have weekly events which are sometimes cancelled.

Fullcalendar works quite well. Cant recall the differences between them though.

Parts of the date module are in core. Other parts live in contrib:

In terms of calendars, I have not really had a chance to play with these options yet. But, here is what I can find:

1) There is a module called Full Calendar with a stabile release on BD.org. https://backdropcms.org/project/fullcalendar

2) Someone started ported the Calendar module, but has not released it as it is incomplete. https://github.com/backdrop-contrib/calendar

I have found that I seldom have a need for a full traditional calendar. Mostly, I just need to display a list of dates. There are many things that one can do with nothing but views and some custom CSS. Here is a simple example of how most of my calendars look: https://www.spclc.org/calendar

If you feel strongly about better calendar options, you are welcome to attend one of the weekly development meetings and pitch the issue and get feedback. Sometimes, all it takes to get something done (or get people working on an issue) in the Backdrop community is someone demonstrating a strong interest.

Thank you very much for these clarifications & ideas.

I am familiar w. fullcalendar and this would be my back-up solution. But probably this module will make it more complicated to move from D7 to backdrop.

I know calendar is sort of luxus, fancy - a list of dates would work.

The spclc.org calendar page is blank in Chrome.

Some kind of asynchronous system in addition to meetings would be helpful.

Offhand I know that Fullcalendar doesn't have a Year display, otherwise they seemed pretty similar.

It looks like the issue blocking the release of the Calendar module has been fixed in the most recent release of Backdrop CMS.

It would seem that the only thing blocking release now is testing and feedback. If you have time, give this module a test and let the maintainers know if it works for you and/or if you discover any problems.
