I did not posted this on https://github.com/backdrop-contrib/b/issues, because I thought it's not an issue per se, but rather just an idea to explore.

Starting to work on Backdrop Console, I find its command line shorthand b convenient, but at the same time little bit odd and not appealing. I believe making it a bit longer, but more self-explanatory at first sight, would be much more convenient. For example, b could become the two letter abbreviation of Backdrop Console bc, three letter abbreviation bdc or, in Drupal Console's manner, the full word backdrop. But I do believe most striking and appealing command would be just brush!

Despite some users might find word brush used as a command-line tool little funny, it's verb definitions are very much descriptive what Backdrop Console should also be about:

brush (verb)

1. remove (dust or dirt) by sweeping or scrubbing.

2. touch lightly and gently.

Also it would be really easy to differentiate and switch for those who are coming with Drupal 7 background are used to drush.

Any thoughts on this?

I like the idea! That said, I'd however recommend to post the suggestion to the issue queue. It's not only good for "issues" but also for ideas.

I was first indecisive where - between the forums and issues - to post it, but since you say issues, here it is https://github.com/backdrop-contrib/b/issues/59

Not the first time the name "brush" comes up as a suggestion :) (https://github.com/backdrop/backdrop-issues/issues/47#issuecomment-24275176 back in 2013 for example).

The idea with https://github.com/backdrop-contrib/drush was to make it so people could use the "drush" command they are familiar with, but there have been some compatibility issues, and it is my understanding that it takes some considerable amount of work to make drush commands work for both Drupal and Backdrop.

I don't mind renaming the project to "brush". Kinda like the playfulness of it :)

Thank you for the link. Very interesting discussion.

No doubt it would be wonderful if drush could fully support Backdrop, but with so many incompatibility issues, I also believe it's better to build a new and clean command line tool than dragging drush with all its heavy weight into Backdrop world and putting so much efforts to make the integration ideal.

So let's do it! ;)
