For the Developer meeting:
Textfields with autocomplete don't work properly on iOS (iPad, iPhone) in Backdrop CMS, although they did work (and continue to work) in Drupal 7. Some examples and preliminary investigation are in https://github.com/backdrop/backdrop-issues/issues/6050.
I solicit input and enlightenment from those with greater expertise and/or historical knowledge of the D7->B changes—some of which are described in the comments.

What needs to happen to fix this, and can we stop it breaking again (or fix it quicker if it breaks again.
