I've been thinking about creating a recipe that is a collection of modules that provide specific block types for site architects or site builders. This recipe would simply "require" a curated list of block modules. In effect, it would simply be a tool for folks to try and experiment with some block related modules that they might not otherwise know about.
In the future, this recipe MIGHT include some sample content to demo these blocks and help folks learn about them.
Similar recipes might be created for other thematic groups of modules with a shared theme.
After installing this recipe, it could safely be disabled and uninstalled as it will not do anything. Individual modules that are enabled by this recipe could be disabled and uninstalled on a case by case basis. Future versions of the recipe might include new modules or remove modules from the curated list, but would not effect prior installations.
Just putting this out there for feedback and or suggestions for modules to include.
