What's going on when a particular Role cannot get the Default Administrative Layout (DAL)?

In my DAL Alternative Paths I have for example "heart/applications" which goes to a custom view. The Role "Organisation" can go there, and see the page, but it is not inside the DAL, it is in the Default Layout. Same thing happens with every other path in the DAL for this Role. Yet another Role I have called Manager has not got this problem. I cannot find the difference between the two roles other then levels of various User Permissions, but unsure which one has effect here.

Accepted answer

Those who can't see the page displayed using DAL, are they able to see the admin theme at all? (Seven or another admin theme). Or are they seeing that page in Basis or another front-end theme?

Typically you want to grant two permissions so that people can use the administrative theme: "Use administration pages" AND "View the administration theme".

Thank you!

"Use administration pages"  is not there.

"View the administration theme" SOLVED it. Definitely a blond moment, and I'm bald.
