Faster way to update permissions?

Is there a  faster way to update permissions when there is a long list?  e.g. click here and the following all get checked.  This is a problem where an application has a lot of permissions. I already use the 'filter permissions' module which helps, but something like the 'faster permissions' from Drupal 7 would be good.
