Hi everyone,
I am currently working on a new free theme for Backdrop CMS built on top of Tailwind CSS v3 and sub-themed / based on the core Basis theme.
The goal of this project is to provide a clean, modern, and flexible starter / base theme for developers and designers who want to leverage the power of Tailwind CSS within Backdrop CMS.
Current Features & Progress:
-
Tailwind CSS v3 Integration: Fully integrated and structured for easy extension.
-
Based on Basis: Inherits the robust structure and best practices of Backdrop’s core Basis theme.
-
Background Customization: Includes built-in settings/options to change background styles easily.
-
Dark Mode Support: Built-in Dark Mode toggle out of the box (as seen in the screenshot).
-
Developer-Friendly: Designed to be a flexible starter theme for custom client sites or standalone themes.
(Attached is a preview screenshot showing the current progress and dark mode toggle)
I’d Love Your Feedback & Ideas:
Since this theme is still under active development, I would really appreciate your input before a formal release:
-
What features or options would you like to see in a Tailwind-based Backdrop theme?
-
How do you prefer Tailwind CSS compilation/assets to be managed in a Backdrop theme workflow?
-
Any suggestions regarding layout settings or developer tools integration?
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts, suggestions, and feedback!
Best regards,

Welcome to the Backdrop community! My first suspicion would be access to the destination page. Backdrop checks access when building the menu, so a link can be enabled but still be hidden...

This is good enough, but maybe the module maintainer would like to add such a feature.
