I think release notes should be easier to find and would suggest the following changes:

1) On https://docs.backdropcms.org/documentation/core-updates, "release notes" should link to https://backdropcms.org/project/backdrop/releases:

7. Put the new core directory from the latest release of Backdrop CMS inside your docroot.

  • Note: If any of the files outside the core directory have been changed and need to also be updated, they will be explicitly mentioned in the release notes.

2) There should be a link to the release notes in the left menu of the documentation (under Appendix/References?)

Thanks for this feedback. I agree that the Release notes are more difficult to find than they should be. I frequently come here looking for release notes, only to be frustrated. 

My logic for looking for them here is that I expect some people come here looking for the latest download and expect to see release notes nearby. 

I'm going to add this to the agenda for the weekly dev meeting.
