hello

Recently, I found that when editing a username When I returned to the node edit page In the node author name field Still my old name If I want to save a node I will need to edit the name in the node creator field to match my new username. Otherwise, the node cannot be saved. with the message: This user account was not found.

Generally, when a user changes the user account name. The node author name should automatically change to reflect the current name.

Note: In the node viewing view The node author name is displayed as the new name that I changed. Found the problem only on the node edit page.

I'm not sure if this is an intentional feature or not. Or is it a Backdrop CMS bug?

If there is anything inappropriate in my comments I am very sorry.

Accepted answer

There is nothing inappropriate in your comment so don't worry.

This does look like a bug. I notice that the display of the node does update but you get that error when editing the node until you update the authored field.

I imagine this is not a common issue as it hasn't been raised before; I don't think many people change usernames.

Please can you raise an issue for this in:

I did some more testing. By changing my name on this web forum, I found that my name in the Node view page was still my old name. There are no changes.

Also, when I go to the edit node page Then edit and press save. I found that it cannot be saved. Warning message: User not found.

I do not have permission to edit the node author field on this site. So I can't do anything. Other than changing back to my old name.

I hope my information is useful.

i have the same problem but in the Forum

A user published a topic in the forum, weeks later he requested that the topic be transferred to another user, the node was edited changing the name of the author to another active user, if you enter the node the name of the new author appears but if you look at the list of forum topics in example.com/forum the name of the old author continues to appear.

I don't know if it has to do with the same bug

I expect it to be the same error.

Most websites It is a website for one person. such as blogs or news websites, so there aren't many username changes. or even if the username is changed But there was very little going back to fix the old nodes. Therefore, this problem is rarely discussed.

However, if the website is a medium sized or large social media site. This error will definitely be a big deal. Because there are many user accounts And someone must definitely change the user account name.
