I now have a fully translated (into Danish) Ubercart Backdrop store thanks to ChatGPT - the free version. I only see very few 'glitches' - in general much better than I could do - well, unless I had 'all the time in the world'. I would not have been able to this in a month - ChatGPT took about two hours!.

Just awaiting response whether I can upload my translated .po file to the Backdrop language server without creating problems (it is 'polluted' by module translations).

The ChatGT just need to know it is supposed to translate a .po file from english to ??? (your language) in accordance with GNU gettext.

My method is quite simple - and could probably be improved:

Prompt for ChatGPT is:

Please translate strings from a GNU gettext style .po file from English to Danish

Then I paste about 300 lines from the untranslated part of a site export (via 'User interface translation' ) onto ChatGPT - the free version - and about a minute later I have the translation in the 'window'. I copy the 'code' and paste it into a fresh .po file for later import to the site via 'User interface translation'

That is usually enough. I mostly get po style code back, but sometimes 'he' switch to plaintext or javascript. That doesn't matter - the code is proper anyway.

This way I got more than 6000 lines translated in a few hours - and most of the time I can do other things on my computer at the same time. Must say: Very impressive.

For some languages there might be 'adjustments' needed to clarify translations for ChatGPT for some terms - otherwise, fully automatic.

I am thinking this could be much more automated by using ChatGPT API - which needs to be paid for though.
