Somewhere along the line I lost the ability to go into the theme settings in the user interface and see a preview of my color changes. The log messages tell me my access is denied. Every theme does this. How can I fix it?

AFAIK, this is part of the FullCalendar library and it doesn't create a separate View Display. If you want to customise the look and feel, you will need to target the elements with CSS....
