It would be great to be able to have aliases for certain taxonomy terms. Does this feature exist in Backdrop?

Please can you be a bit more specific.

URL aliases for taxonomy can easily be set

However, I suspect you mean something else, but I'm not sure what.

Sorry to be unclear. I mean, is there a way to have multiple variants of a term name point to the same TID? The email group service Groups.io allows this type of aliasing on hashtags, and I was thinking of something similar.
