I know I might get into trouble with some people, putting the question in this category, but it's maybe the most frequented.
I see that the [Backdrop](https://github.com/backdrop/backdrop) repo has over 1,000 stars but many of the backdrop contrib repos have very few if any stars. It's probably because people don't think to do it even though they really like the module or the theme. Yet it is a simple thing to do if you have a github account. Even people who are site builders and not developers could get a github account just add a touch.
It may help enhance the visibility of the Backdrop ecosystem?

It is a good point @izmeez and when I was researching repo discoverability I found that GitHub search does prioritise matches with more stars.

Another advantage of starring is it is a handy way to keep a list of modules you'll want to install as you can see your starred projects.
