I am working on porting a contrib module and asked a colleague to test the module on a dev site that they have access to, but they do not have immediate access to the dev server.
I suggested that they use "Manual Install" and gave them a link to the git repo. This works great to test a module that is not available in the project installer (yet). However, now I've made some updates to the module and it seems that you can't "upgrade" or "update" a dev module this way.
Just checking if anyone can think of a way to update a DEV module through the User Interface or will this require deleting the module on the server before we can install a newer version of it?

I have two very smart people tell me in Zulip that it is not possible to update modules through the UI unless they are available through BackdropCMS.org.
One idea I had was if you could completely uninstall via the UI, but that is not possible (see https://github.com/backdrop/backdrop-issues/issues/3939).
