Just a small problem. If i tried to load images from the button SELECT EXISTING FILE the process failed without error in console or elsewhere.
This is not a big problem but it is useful so that you don't load the same image twice.
PS: I used Paragraphs for this. I supposed in a classic field is the same ?

With a classic field for image, it's the same.
Almost. ;-) 1.34.2 has been released today.
But that doesn't explain your struggling... Needless to say, it works just fine for me. Both, upload and selection from existing files.
In the image browser the images you pick appear selected, when you hit the "Insert" button? For example, in Seven (default admin theme) they get a blue-ish background.
To select multiple at once, you have to also press the "ctrl" key.
Also check, how many images the field accepts - unlimited or is there a limit?
I used the theme gin for admin. Perhaps, it's the problem ?
I have a color border when i selected the images and of course i used the "ctrl" key.
