How do we get to these? Do I need to uninstall the flexible_layout module first? Is there anything else about an existing pre-1.14 site that would need to be changed / updated to use this feature?
Just saw someone reference this thread and saw the alternative solution mentioned in Stack Exchange which linked to here. Using Nginx certainly does work if encountering the problem in Lando,...
The fix is to add the following to the .htaccess file
Options -MultiViews
and this is also discussed here in this very forum.

You don't need to turn anything on. From the layouts listing, you should see a new tab labeled "Templates"
From there, click the "Add flexible layout template" link at the top!
Ah hah. So layouts themselves work the same way, it's creating a dynamic template that's new. Nice.
Tangential, it seems like I needed to do a separate update of layouts to 1.15? In addition to updating core Backdrop. I had missed that.
@brad.bulger - Please elaborate on what you mean by a separate update of Layouts to 1.15?
I'm unaware of any update related to layouts that is outside of the core update. You may be misunderstanding something (or I am).
