This post explains how to do this in Drupal 7. In Backdrop, File Entity is already part of core. You will need to download and install module Views Field View.

Were you logged into Pantheon?
It looks to me like you need to have an account at Pantheon and be logged in for this to work. The webpage should probably warn users of this.
This issue was discussed in a BackdropCMS.org issue a while back, but I don't think it was resolved.

FTR, the demo button now uses https://tugboat.qa and users do not need to be logged in.
