It links to Pantheon all right, but there is no indication of a BackdropCMS demo there. Is there a demo anywhere or do I have to set it up in my space and try to implement something?

I just tested and the two work together without issue as long as you don't use the "Exclude comments from Content...
There is also Node Comments Search - this searches the node and all comments (default search is node and first page of comments) as part of the content search. Izzy's module above is a separate...

If there is no response, alternatively, you can use a View with a list of comments, with a filter based on the comment text. I haven't tried it myself, I just got an idea.

Were you logged into Pantheon?
It looks to me like you need to have an account at Pantheon and be logged in for this to work. The webpage should probably warn users of this.
This issue was discussed in a BackdropCMS.org issue a while back, but I don't think it was resolved.

FTR, the demo button now uses https://tugboat.qa and users do not need to be logged in.
