There are some things that I can never remember how to do in Github but I know they are possible. Also, I'm never quite sure where to find the answer I'm looking for.

I would like to create a blog post on Backdropcms.org that incluldes these tips and tricks in a place I can remember.

What I have in mind right now are these two questions.

1) How to search for projects I maintain?

2) How to add images to the Readme that will show up on BackdropCMS.org?

What other Github cheats/tips/tricks would you like to see in a blog post titled: Github Tips and Tricks for Contrib Maintainers

In a blog post titled "Github Tips and Tricks for Contrib Maintainers", I'd like to see some of the following topics:

  • When is the README sufficient for documentation? When should I also use the Github wiki?
  • How do I declare a release as the recommended one, and where can I get help if it doesn't work?
  • How to handle obsolete releases?
  • Which patterns to use for release names and numbers?
  • What are good ways to communicate important update information when making a release, e.g. about breaking changes?
