Hi everyone! I’ve been visiting this forum for years and have tried building several projects with Backdrop. Some of them I ended up migrating to other platforms—not because Backdrop didn’t meet my needs, but because I didn’t realize how much was actually possible with it.

I know the documentation covers everything, and you can extend it a lot with custom modules or code. But… what about people who just want to launch a blog or a simple project without diving into the technical side?

That was me at first. Now, with my project comunidadthreads.com , I’ve taken the time to really learn the platform, and I’ve even built a couple of custom modules to solve my own needs. I always recommend Backdrop, but people often ask me: “Where can I read more?” And when I send them to GitHub or the official docs, many don’t read it because it’s only in English.

So here’s my idea:

  1. Could we create an official Spanish version of the documentation, or at least a section with beginner-friendly guides and visuals?

  2. Also, would it be possible to have the official Backdrop homepage available in Spanish—at least the static content?

On my platform, I’m also planning to create a BackdropCMS group to share tutorials and resources in Spanish, but I think it would be even better if there were an official option.

I’m happy to help with the translations! My English is basic, but I’ve learned a lot just to figure out how to use the platform properly.

What do you think?

I’m working on a group within the project comunidadthreads.com I launched using BackdropCMS, where I’ll be posting short, easy-to-follow tutorials for anyone interested in learning how to build websites with this platform. I’ve already shared 3 tutorials today, and my goal is to keep up the pace so that the basics are ready within a month. After that, I plan to move on to more advanced and specialized content.

Some ideas I have for upcoming tutorials include:

  • How to create a blog from scratch

  • How to set up a client database

  • How to design an online portfolio

At the moment, I’m searching for a base theme that includes a simple, effective layout:

  • Logo on the left, menu centered, and a call-to-action button on the right

  • On mobile, I’d like the logo to stay on the left and the menu button on the right to make sure it’s fully responsive

If anyone’s interested in collaborating or has suggestions for themes or tutorial ideas, I’d love to hear your input!

Una buena idea!

There are some people already involved who speak Spanish, myself included (70%), so you can have some help.

There is a Backdrop en Español channel in Zulip, but there could be a Spanish section on the forum too.

We should probably turn on multilingual for the documentation website. Or come up a short term alternative. There are some other languages that could also use translations now.

Hello, if at the general level give ease of access to information, for most freelancers who want to put together a portfolio, a blog for editors. Something that is easy to understand and use and although I know that what exists already gives facilities, I also know that most do not want to spend reading documentation if not launching projects in a short time.

I thought Backdrop is multilingual. I guess it needs work.

Yes, Backdropcms is multilanguage, what I mean is information such as guides, tutorials, etc. To be accessible to the Spanish language.

We have had Spanish Language sessions at Backdrop LIVE in the past. If anyone would like to facilitate a session at Backdrop LIVE in Spanish OR about creating more Spanish resources, that would be excellent.

I could create tutorials, with images and screenshots, that explain step by step how to install and use BackdropCMS, designed especially for non-technical people.
The idea is to create clear and accessible resources that demonstrate that BackdropCMS is a tool for everyone, without the need to go into platforms like GitHub, Zulip or others that may be complex for some users.
These tutorials could be published on the official BackdropCMS site in a section dedicated to the Spanish-speaking community, helping more people to discover how simple and accessible the system can be.
In addition, in a complementary way, I could also organize these resources in a private group within a personal online community project to facilitate the accompaniment and resolve doubts of those who want to go deeper.
