I want to remove the "Add new Forum topic" link from all the forum pages except the last forum child containing topics.
This will help people first get into the corresponding forum, checking for similar topics and then posting to that forum with the correct forum preselected.
This request is also described here where people gave also patches https://www.drupal.org/project/drupalorg/issues/2179705
The above solution also suggests on initial node create, to disable the taxonomy selector completely to avoid people changing it by mistake.
Is there a way to achieve the above without custom code?

That's the best way to go about it 👍 ...I'm sure that eventually, and if most people using the module agree that this is the best way to have it behave, the module will be updated to accomodate that feature.
