What is involved with porting a module from D7 to BD?  I have a lot of custom modules that I need to get to work in BD in order for me to move away from Drupal.

Thanks!

Tom

Hi @tomgrandy! Welcome to the Backdrop CMS forum. I would start with the articles here (especially the section on Converting Modules) and post here or in the Zulip chat if you come up with any specific question. Good luck porting!

@bugfolder, looks like we hit "Save" exactly at the same time LOL

Hi tomgrandy,

That depends a lot on how complex your modules are.

There's a helper module for that task, by the way: Coder upgrade

With easy modules sometimes this helper does the whole job. But you might want to get the "big picture" before you start. There's good documentation for module conversion.

If you run into trouble or get stuck, ask here in the forum for help, or even quicker, ask in our Zulip chat.

Awesome!

Thanks for the quick response.  I'll go read the documentation and then give it a shot.  Trying to port modules from the profile that the University of Colorado at Boulder built for their Web Express.

Could be a game-change for universities and schools looking to use Backdrop if I can get UC Boulder to approve it.

Thanks!

Tom
